Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

I never thought this would happen…but I did it. At the beginning of my school semester, i started listening to Harry Potter on Audio in my car on the way to school. It took me 4 months to do it on 3 trips a week but I just finished Book 7. I think the last 3 books were my favorite because I saw the movies already and knew what was going to happen. Surprisingly they are really good books and I now know why people waited till 12 pm to get them the next day. One thing I am glad about is that I waited till the 7th book to start reading them…I hate waiting lol. Anyone else read these?

2 Steps Toward Being More Metro.

Alas it is true, I am 2 steps closer to becoming more metro. How you may ask? Well first I got a new scarf, which Michelle bought me, because I get sooo cold. Apparently that’s “metro” but I like my scarf! The second is I am seriously considering taking the Metrolink to school next semester. I researched it for an hour tonight and it only costs 90 bucks for a month to go to school. Unfortunately, I have to go 5 days a week in the spring, so that is an amazing deal! So make fun of me all you want I’m more metro! Enjoy my new two self portraits I did just now.

4th Most Obese City in America.

Welcome to Riverside CA, my home, where it has now been reported to be the 4th most Obese City in America…

Those living in the city of Riverside and the surrounding metropolitan area, located about an hour east of Los Angeles, are likely victims of a car-centric culture. But despite efforts to promote safe streets and bicycle riding, the obesity epidemic is only getting worse: 30.8% percent of Riverside residents are obese, a 5% increase from 2005. The percentage of people neglecting regular exercise is also creeping upward, now standing at 30%

What can we do about this?

I apologize for my lack of updates to the blog and what is going on in my life. I feel that I’ve been using my blog as a superficial means of showing my life in a narrow glass that I want it to be portrayed. The truth is I’ve been frustrated with a lot of things in my life, not because I’m trying to be fake, but because I have been ignoring many things that makes me who I am (ie Running, Friends, God). This has led me to not really care about anything but myself thus making my blog lame and self-centered. I want to once again show that I can not only make things fun but to use my mind to engage myself, others, and God. This is not a means to get people to read my blog it’s a means to express who I am through thought (and my endless grammar errors).

This week we started the new series at Sandals called ‘Glamour’. I’m really excited for this series even though I’m not 100% sure what it’s about. I was thinking it was about tithing (which is normally done at this time of year), but the first message through me a loop. In the message pastor matt states, “The Glamorous life and the kingdom life are two different lives with two different roads that lead to two different places.” What is this glamorous life? Living so that we satisfy ourselves by overspending to the point that nothing else matters, just like the American way. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness which may cost us Americans our soul. Our pursuit of worldly things as Christians is pulling us down, we try to work so hard to put Jesus in the American dream, but it doesn’t work. Jesus says, “Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor.” Now obviously today this is almost impossible to do. I know I could not do it, but what I do know is that getting rid of one thing and giving to the poor is what Jesus would want. Now in the past I’ve done this, something that consumed me all the time was video games. I gave it up and have not played it since. Problem now is that my old Xbox is worth like 20 bucks. Pastor Matt challenged us to get rid of one thing we cared about. Thing is, I gave that up along time ago; I would not miss giving up my Xbox now. What would I miss? Honestly I don’t know. What most important to me right now is my time, I could give that to God but I do that already. The next important thing for me is money. I don’t spend money I save it; I think the biggest blow to me instead of getting rid of an object is to give up my paycheck to the poor. That is what I’m considering. What do you think? What’s yours? I’ve been blessed so much when I gave up video games, is it time to give up more? Sandals kicks my butt! Matt Brown likes to challenge us, because we need to be challenged in our thinking of God.

Journey Below the Earth

Well we are starting a new series at Pipeline, so I figured I would show you guys my new artwork. The series is called, “Journey Below the Earth”, and its an Indiana Jones type theme. At first I was in a hurry to get it done, then I spent a moment to reflect on God. When I came back I had an inspiration to make it look like it is. It just came to me saying “Hey, why don’t you play around with doing this”. Didn’t know God had put it in me. Enjoy.
